Iran: Pressure from the regime, pressure on the regime
The regime in Iran is based on a very peculiar system called Velayat-e-faghi, meaning the reign of the Supreme Religious Leader. Formally Iran bears the name of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) implying that there is a certain democratic element in the system to be able to claim that the regime is legitimized by its population. Each election thus can be seen as a legitimation of the Supreme Leader and the system in general. People in Iran have experienced at least two presidential elections where elections were mere staffage because the results had been fixed before the election by the Supreme Leader himself.
It is well known that very few canditates are being accepted for elections in Iran by the Guardian Council. One of the criteria is the absolute dedication to certain political and power-interest interpretations of Islamic values.
The role of the Supreme Leader is to give guidance and find the balance between different political fractions if needed. Since Ali Khamenei was heaved into this role in 1989 he is constantly struggling for his legitimation as he was nothing than a simple Mullah with a woeful experience in the dungeons of SAVAK and on the battlefields of the Irak-Iran war.
This Supreme Leader's style of guidance is very special though. Whenever he delivers a speech in a very metaphoric way on diverse topics, certain individuals who are close to him claim to know what the leader meant to say and interpret the messages of Ali Khamenei between the lines for lower ranks. One of these interpreter persons is Mesbah Yazdi, the so-called theoretician of violence. Human Rights to these people are a joke of the present time. This Mesbah Yazdi is an ideologue who influences high rank personnel of Pasdaran and Bassidji forces. His ideology is based on ideas of Ahmad Fardid about the "time after tomorrow" - an ideology that spreads hate towards the present conditions on earth and seeks an absolute state of light and pureness on earth. To reach this state the present time must be destroyed according to this ideology. Another element of this ideology is the blind following of a Supreme Leader. For that the ardent followers of this line use the name Imam for Ali Khamenei, assigning him a divine role.
Amaryioun and Salehin
There are three fractions of Bassidji who follow the line of Ali Khamenei. First there are the ordinary Bassidji with little importance. Next there is a fraction of ideolouges like Hassan Abassi called Amaryioun (the ones addicted to martyrdom), another fraction is named Salehin ( the righteous). This Salehin (http://www.brandeis.edu/crown/publications/meb/MEB44.pdf )group has free hands for any action they consider as necessary to protect the revolution and the system. Each police force or security unit in Iran has the order to protect this group and enforce their actions. By the interpretation of Khameneis words through Mesbah Yazdi certain actions happened. These groups stir hate against Baha'i, Dervishes and other religious and spiritual movements, they attack their gathering places, they torture and kill people and bring any "supporters of deviated lines" to the dungeons of Iran. One of the groups they regard as their most dangerous adversaries is the Nematollah Gonabadi Sufi Order with Dr. Nour Ali Tabandeh as the head of the order. According to the official statistics of the order there are 4 Million followers of the order inside the country and the numbers are increasing constantly as young people turn their backs to the violent state dictated ideology and join the mystics. Dervishes usually don't mingle with politics and hold stongly that religion and politics must be separated. Since the regime persecutes and harrasses members of this order, dervishes take responsibility to resist as citizens to the vile attacks initiated by Salehin members.
The last aggression against dervishes were the arrests of journalists, editors and lawyers working on dervish cases in September 2011. On Tuesday December 20th Mr. Nasrollah Laleh, director of the Haghighat Publishing House and a close person to Dr. Tabandeh, was arrested by security forces without any legal warrant and was brought to an unknown place as was reported by Majzoobane Nour Website. It is assumed that the regime suspects Mr. Laleh to have passed informations about current human rights violations in Iran to persons outside Iran, which might have been mentioned in the latest report by Dr. Ahmed Shaheed.
By the way, Salehin members were among those who attacked the British Embassy in November 2011 and who were entitled by the media as "students".
Mostafa Azmayesh, the United Nations and Sadegh Laridjani
The recent report of Ahmed Shaheed (Human Rights rapporteur for Iran) on the Human Rights situation in Iran is based on a multitude of talks to Iranians who could flee the claws of the regime and who delivered a broad scale of information on what happens inside the country. One of the persons who has contributed to this report was Dr. Mostafa Azmayesh, a religious scholar and doctor of Islamic law who could precise on the campaigns of hate against religious groups that are not in the line of the interpretation of the state ideology. For years Dr. Azmayesh wrote articles and delivered speeches on the nature of the regime and the manipulation of Islam by the ideologues of violence. He could show how these ideologues tried to base their propaganda on Islam and Koran but failed as stoning and hanging and killing of innocent people are in contrary being rejected by the koranic teachings. According to Azmayesh Human Rights are 100% compatible with Islam and even more Islam surpasses Human Rights by calling its followers to chivalry and generosity towards others and thus to an active protection of the rights of fellow citizens. The UN report mentions the atrociuos violations of the rights of Baha'i and Dervishes for example.
In a reply to the UN Human Rights report the head of the Justice in Iran, Sadegh Laridjani, accused Dr. Shaheed to rely on informations given by exiled Iranians and not to talk to the regime. He insists that Iran has its own view on so called "Islamic Human Rights" and rejects any interference of the UN as it is being manipulated by certain powers for their own interests. Laridjani asserted that there were no secret hangings of drug dealers but that there were public and hidden hangings in prisons according to the circumstances. He insisted that the regimes way of interpreting Islam was the only right way and that their Islam had no place for "Western Human Rights".
Finally the revelations of the massive Human Rights violations by the regime in Iran to the International community has put a lot of pressure to the regime.
